Most of us have heard of the game Truth or Dare. It’s a game played by young teens and even adults (there is even a version of Truth or Dare for kids) to keep a party interesting. It can be harmless fun or it can become a microscope that focuses everyone’s attention on the deepest secrets of each participant, depending on who is playing and on just how deep the payers are willing to go to expose their darker sides. But there are also some lessons to be learned from the game itself and in finding those lessons, you may find some daring truths about trusting you should be when it comes to certain people and the businesses you deal with.

Rules of the Game
If you’ve never played Truth or Dare, or even if you have never heard of it, the concept is simple and it all begins with the title of the party game. In its simplest terms, you must tell the truth about whatever is asked of you, or if you so choose, you can take another approach and instead, perform a ridiculous act that puts you out of your comfort zone.
First, gather up your players. You will need at least two players but the more the merrier in this game. You can discuss who goes first, or you can make it fair and random by drawing lots to decide the order. When ready, that player must choose whether to be asked a question by the rest of the group, which must be answered truthfully, or the player can choose “dare” which is some kind of task that is embarrassing or silly.
After the truth is revealed or the task is completed, that player then leads the group to the next player in line, asking them to decide between “Truth or dare?”
The fun in this game is being uncomfortable with what you have to say or do, and the best part is, everyone gets the same opportunity to make a fool of themselves.
Questions can range from the benign, like “What’s the last book you read?” to the very edge of your comfort zone, like “what’s the last personal secret your spouse told you not to say out loud?” If you are looking for ideas, here you can find some of the Best Truth or Dare questions.
Conversely, if you select a dare, you could be asked to do such things as belch out your name or kiss every participant of the game on the mouth. Either way, the results can lead to many laughs.
Lessons of Truth or Dare
There are certain things you can take away from this adolescent exercise. One of the major lessons learned is how to trust people and that carries over into the business world. For example, an internet marketing company can simply tell you the truth about a certain marketing tool or technique to benefit you the most. On the other hand, they can also dare you into something you don’t need with an upsell that’s not advantageous.
The bottom line is, don’t be dared into something uncomfortable when the truth always fits.
